This year has really flown by… is it really the middle of October already?!  I can’t believe that the new year is just around the corner… Anyway, here’s another calendar for you!

You know my love for Kokeshi dolls, and so I decided to make a Kokeshi doll themed calendar for 2012. I hope you enjoy!

How to draw and “read” at the same time…

Ok, a couple of things, “read” is in quotes, because the computer actually does the reading out loud for you… And I chose draw because that is my creative outlet, feel free to insert whatever you love to do in the title…  I have the problem of having way too many blog articles/ebooks that I want to read but I don’t have enough time to read everything.

Then, it hit me!  I remembered that my computer has accessibility capabilities.  I can highlight a certain portion of whatever I want to read and with a few keystrokes, have my computer read the posts/books to me.  My very own personal reader!  Plus, I can draw at the same time!  So here are the steps:

Mac users:

  • Go to System Preferences
  • Go to “Speech”
  • Click “Text to Speech”
  • Choose the voice that you want - you can download some other cool voices in different languages too.
  • Click “Speak selected text…”
  • Then, highlight what you want read, click your key stroke - then, magic happens!
  • Works on word documents
  • To pause just hit the same key stroke.
